MLB on tvOS 10 unable to start up

Since updating to tvOS 10, the MLB app is unable to start. I've tried to start it over and over, but it doesn't stick, just pops back to the app icon. I tried looking up on MLB.com but find its many paths confusing and weird, so I can't check if they are having problems (but they aren't showing any). I've updated each time they've offered, so I don't think that's it. Since I hate to miss games that are so important now, especially as SF Giants are puttering, any suggestions would be welcomed (for them, too!).

Thank you, Diana. I tried restarting via System but nothing changed, then I tried quitting and holding down the Home button. I never saw a "chooser" but I did hold down the app and sweep its wriggling MLB left and right and then moved it to the far right of the screen, since it wouldn't move off the top of the screen (only a half above the apps area). That seems to have worked, because it started up the next time I clicked it. So you got it right somewhere in there. And I thank you very much -- just in time to see the Giants break the ninth inning curse! Solved.

Hi Diana

Well, it's happening again, just starts to appear as MLB icon on the screen, then it returns to the icon. I'm confused as to what you mean by "pushing it off the top of the screen". The wiggling icon for MLB only goes to the top of the "thumbnails" of the items on the screen. I tried double-clicking the Home button on the remote and that didn't seem to do anything except perhaps change something (which I could not detect but perhaps made slightly small "thumbnails" or something? Huh? In any case, if I delete I'll have to go through the registration and fav teams setup and what-all else, so I'm hesitant to do that. I saw in one tech website (MacDailyNews?) that MLB has just updated its tvOS program and maybe that's what's wrong? How do you update your individual programs? Can"t use iMac, iPhone,iPad, which allows this easily. But how does tvOS 10 do it? In any case, I'm back to square one.

Hi. I confused you by wrongly giving the instructions to remove an app. If you start from the home screen, no wiggling, etc., and double click the Home button, you'll get an app chooser, similar to the iPad. You swipe left or right to put the running app in the center, and swipe up on the remote to force quit the app. This does not uninstall it, just exits it. Sometimes when an app fails, that can clean it up. I hope this is clear now. You can try the double click any time to get familiar with it.

If you have not enabled automatic updates for the apps, you can update by going to the TV app store, select Purchased and select the app. If there's an update, the normal install button will say update. The screen info will show the date of the latest update.

I have followed suggestions to exit the app via the Home button and it's worked temporarily but then stopped and I'm back to just using my iPad to AirPlay the games via the MLB app that does the job -- while I guess we wait for some update or the next version of tvOS 10. I was going to delete the current app and re-install it with all that entails, but you've shown me that it doesn't do the trick either. So AirPlay from the iPhone or iPad is the only temporary solution I've found.
